Mike Smith is a Partner and Co-Chief Investment Officer at GEM. In this role, Mike leads GEM’s market strategy, macroeconomic analysis, and portfolio tactics. Mike joined GEM in 2010, and served as our firm’s Chief Investment Officer from 2013 to 2024. Prior to joining the firm, Mike was the founding CIO at the University of Florida Investment Management Company. Prior to that, he was an Investment Manager at the Duke University Management Company (DUMAC). He joined DUMAC from Hewitt Investment Group, where he was the Director of Research. He currently serves on the Board of the Gator Student Investment Fund. He received a B.S. in Finance from the University of Florida and is a CFA Charterholder.
